We're open for submissions of films, games, podcasts and VR. Our programme focuses on the topics that are the most meaningful, pressing and present in our world, and welcomes a diversity of subject matter and styles. We accept shorts across multiple genres: Animation, Artists’ Film, Comedy, Dance, Drama, Experimental, Fashion, Music Video and Thriller. Entries are now open for Aesthetica Film Festival 2026, running 4-8 November in York, UK.

The 2025 Edition .
Aesthetica is the destination for independent cinema. From 5-9 November 2025, we welcomed filmmakers, games developers and VR experts from around the world to the 15th anniversary edition of the festival, both in-person in York and online. The programme comprised of screenings, industry masterclasses, networking sessions, pitching opportunities and much more. The festival was available online from 5-30 November, with over 300 film screenings to watch.
